			The Sir Joseph Banks Society are thrilled to be awarded a £10,000 National Lottery Grant to produce a garden in the memory of Sir Joseph Banks.

			Rumours abound that the owners of our Town Hall, East Lindsey District Council, plan to demolish the hall and sell the land for housing. The Civic Society seeks the truth!

			Last year, through the Horncastle News, we invited the public to send us their memories and recollections of the children's home in Foundry Street. The responses we received were, understandably, very emotional.

			There have been settlements for thousands of years at Horncastle therefore when groundworks are approved an archaeological survey is commissioned. This is the most recent survey.

			Sir Joseph Banks has never received the recognition he so richly deserves, until now! Here in his home town, a society dedicated to him has been formed. The Society welcomes new members and the Banks centre is open to visitors.
